The First National team of Belarus has been the runner-up of the tournament in memory of О. Karaev
Belarus-1 team has been a silver medalist in the XVIII international tournament of Greco-Roman wrestling in memory of Oleg Karaev, the Olympic champion of 1960. Tournament was held in Minsk Sports Palace on November, 26.
This year for the second time traditional competition in memory of Oleg Karaev has had the form of a tournament. Previously it was in the individual event. Our country was represented by two teams – Belarus-1 and Belarus-2.
In preliminary rounds Belarus-1 became a winner in its «A» group, defeating USA National team – 5:2, Poland – 7:0, Kazakhstan – 5:2 and Lithuania – 6:1.
Belarus-1 consists of: Elbek Toshiev(weight class is under 55 kg), Erbol Kalabaev (under 60 kg), Michael Semenov (under 66 kg), Alexander Kikinev (under 74 kg), Alexander Demianovich (under 74 kg), Alim Selimov (under 84 kg), Javid Gamzatov (under 84 kg), Timothy Deynichenko (under 96 kg), Yosef Chugoshvili (under 120 kg).
The winner of the preliminary «B» group was Russia. In its quintet Belarus-2 won the 3 place after Russia and Georgia. Belorussian reservists were defeated by Georgia– 3:4, won against Ukrainian team – 5:2, beaten by Russia– 1:6 and won a victory over Moldova– 6:1.
Belarus-2 consists of: Stanislav Chigray (under 55 kg), Dmitry Alensky (under 60 kg), Yaroslav Kardash (under 66 kg), Vladimir Batura (under 66 kg), Eugene Bachko (under 74 kg), Kazbek Kilov (under 74 kg), Pavel Produho (under 84 kg), Victor Sosunovsky (under 84 kg),Eugene Tzuran (under 96 kg), Maxim Pashkov (under 96 kg), Kirill Grischenko (under 120 kg), Artem Nagar (under 120 kg).
The first national team of Belarus and the team of Russia met in the final. Unfortunately, the team of Belarus was defeated – 1:6. There was only one victory among Belorussian teams in 7 final rounds – Elbek Toshiev, the silver medalist of World Championship in 2011 (weight class is under 55 kg), gained this victory.
In the round for the bronze the national team of Georgia defeated Kazakhstan– 4:3, BelTA informs.
